I used to listen to Radio France using either Real or QuickTime streaming technologies. They recently discontinued to give the choice to their listeners to select their favorite format as they switched to a Windows Media only stream. Despite the negative feedback from some people, they claimed that DRM was the reason for such a switch. I know they don't care but they just lost one listener...

Tonight at 19CET, Trez and I will be playing chiptunes on the boups.com stream. As it's our first try, I guess the mixing will sound terrible since we still don't have a proper setup but expect some refreshing synthetic sounds!

The GStreamer project is an open source effort to build a flexible media streaming framework. It looks like a very nice plug-in based architecture which is well evolving. Unfortunately I'm quite sure it's the kind of software which is almost impossible to rebuild because of the astronomical amount of library dependencies needed for each and every plug-in...

The MPEG consortium has decided to design a Digital Right Management framework to compete with proprietary technologies. Deadline is scheduled for march 2003, I just hope that at this time we won't be already listening and watching Windows Media only...
